Week 5

I looked through lots of the online image generators, but I'm frustrated 'cause I'm not sure how to upload my own pictures yet - I'll find someone tomorrow at work who can help me! It's incredible what you can do, though - I love the mosaics - I think the Flickr generators were my favorites, although there's a great chocolate bar name generator, too!

I'll keep working - I mean, playing.

LibraryThing is cool, too - I added about 6 books, mostly my favorite children's books, of course! One of the books I listed, My Side of the Mountain, inspired me to go to college to study forestry/wildlife. Knowledge in those subjects comes into great use in the library, both for reference questions (don't everyone come running now!) and telling children's stories. I can see how I could spend a lot of time on this site....

So cool, this Librarything! I'm overwhelmed with how many different aspects there are to this site. Not only can you see how other people feel about books that are near and dear to your heart (and post your own comments), but you can view everything about the book (other formats, etc.), and get many other recommendations for similar books.

Me? Technology?

Well - I finally did it. I used html in a post I made for an online forum I've been chatting on! It was a minor accomplishment, I know, but it was pretty exciting, nevertheless. Okay - so, I must lead a pretty boring life if posting with an html command is exciting, right?!

Anyway - I'm getting braver....who know's what's next?

flickr's cool!

Well, I'd been wanting to check out what Flickr was all about for some time now, so I'm glad I've been "encouraged" to for 23 things! It's really cool. I haven't spent a lot of time exploring, but I searched for my old home town and found quite a bit! It's fun to see photos from places you've been around the country (and outside the country for those of you who REALLY travel!) The mappr site was interesting and very applicable to our "Reading Road Trip" theme for the summer reading club for kids this year.

Okay, here we go.

The easiest habit for me, I think, is to view problems as challenges. As tough as life can be sometimes, I have a pretty optimistic nature and can usually see the best of a situation. Sometimes it takes a little time to "see the glass half-full," but I usually come around!

The toughest habit for me is to use technology to my advantage. I'm afraid of pushing the wrong button or downloading something that's going to trash my computer, so I hold off and don't "play/experiment" with technology. I'm hoping that this class will help me overcome some of that fear!
